Deontay Wilder, former holder of the WBC (World Boxing Council) title from 2015-2020, is now out for redemption with a scheduled fight against Tyrrell Herndon.
Reported by ESPN,
Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will return June 27 in a 10-round bout vs. Tyrrell Herndon in Wichita, Kansas, promoters Nelson Lopez and Joshua Chasse of Global Combat Collective told ESPN on Friday.
Wilder’s last win dates back to October 2022 where he landed a knock-out in the first-round against Robert Helenius. Meanwhile, Herndon’s last fight was a six-round split-decision in May 2024 where he took the win.
Promotor Joshua Chasse is adamant on Wilder’s ability to still deliver a powerful punch that could land him on route to return to being the heavyweight champion of the world.
This is Wilder’s legacy reloaded, he’s still one of the hardest punchers in boxing, he’s on the road back to becoming the heavyweight champion of the world, and this is the first step.
Who y’all think taking the win June 27th? Deontay Wilder or Tyrrell Herndon?
